Does it just need a good hammer or is there a certain way of getting it out?

    Cheers

hit the strut with a hammer on the side of where the track rod end threads through that shocks it out

bigger hammer if that fails, then a even bigger hammer is required.

proper way is a ball joint splitter

heat gun, spray, then hit the strut itself around the joint. this should shock it and loosen it, then tap it out. this should prevent damage to the gaiter and the thread of the joint. that's if you are planing on reusing it

As said, lever the trackrod up while you hit the actual strut and not the rod end.

    Goodluck!

is the tracking rod end's easy enough to replace? was looking at getting two new ones as the rubber bits on mine look to have seen better days

ball joint spliter. the fork/wedge type and just gently tap that in with a hammer. can be bought for under £10 at most hardware/tool type stores.

They look abit shitty made mate.. Get some abit more expensive / better made ones!

Easy to change, but will most likely have to get it tracked up again.. I counted the amount of turns, and put the new ones in.. and it was slightly out..

    http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/Citr.../Track-Rod-End

The trackrod is all one unit in the link.. unlike the ones you linked, had the thread welded.

I'm sure I got mine for £18 a pair from a local motor dealers though!

    balljoint splitter...fml.
only use as a last, LAST resort!

if not, the other 4.5% needs a bigger tappy tappy!
