VTS cuts out on idle

    Hey guys.

Bit of a weird one. Every so often when I start my car it wont idle it will just cut out. I have to keep it on the accelerator to keep it running and it will do this the entire journey.

Then the next time I drive it, could be 5 minutes later or the next day, it will be running absolutely fine.

Then today it was running fine, I stopped at a mates house for 5 mins then it started cutting out again. Because it was quite busy i didn't want to try and drive while keeping the revs up I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery left it for a minute then reconnected and it was running fine again.

What the hell is happening? It literally does it about once every month for one journey then it absolutely fine the rest of the time there is always petrol in it when it happens and I would of thought if something was broken on it it would do it all the time not just every so often.

    Cheers guys.

Coolant temperature sensor can cause this

Just want to bump this again and ask if it could be defective battery that's causing it?

I cleaned the ICV and it seemed fine for a while but then started doing it again and I noticed that every time It does it it struggles to start and the clock and radio reset.

Also another thing I have notices is that sometimes the indicators will have a fit an click on and off a couple of times and the rev counter will take a few seconds to kick in.
