Got this service light today morning, seems like power steering assistant about to went, cos steering wheel spins a bit difficult, checked the fluids, all as use to be.
And I hear strange annoying noise while turning wheel left and right. sounds like rubber rubs to the metal, something like that, don't really know how to explain the sound :|
    Any ideas?

Managed to put a bit of a fluid in system, steering wheel seems to spin less difficult, gotta say, it's back to normal tho. But the service light didn't disappear.. It's kinda worrying me, cos' I need to use a car daily to go to work and back (~50mi per day) and I don't want to get stuck somewhere in the middle of way. lol

Fairly sure the service light is nothing to to with the steering its just set to come on at a set interval, theres a thread on how to reset it here somewhere

Service light is just a timer - comes on after XX miles or a year whichever is sooner!

Just use the search button to find out how to reset it! Or check your owners handbook!

The service light you can reset, here is the link of how to do it:

    (when was it last serviced?)

And your steering could be your ball joints. just go check for excessive play with them...
did you get an advisory on your last MOT??

I had a service light with 3000miles, yesterday was 2450miles until service, today showing 0. lol
So I guess last service was about 5000miles, 5-6months ago.
    No advisory on last m.o.t.

The car needs servicing every year or every XXXXX amount of miles, so maybe the year came up before the amount of miles was completed?

And as i think about i, sounds like it could be your PAS pump! your best off going to a scrap dealer, to see how much a replacement could be as your looking at £200+ for a new one! but make sure it is the pump thats broken before you spend the money!

Yeah, pump making noises, so I guess pump about to went.
I got same W reg saxo for spares, so will take the pump and replace with that one, will see if there's will be any results.

Just to make sure car gonna get serviced on time, Ill do the service in about 2-3k miles and after that gonna be 100% sure that I wont miss the service millage. Cos it's hassle to find out the actual time for service, as many people doing it on their own and not doing reset for clocks/dials.

id worry more about that oil light if its on when the engines on

edit: silly me, cars on ign

service light can be easily reset, hold down left button when turning key to pos2, will count down

Did the reset already, and yeah, silly you, it was on ignition. lol

Got some questions, where can I find power steering belt?
And what might cause the knocking in the back of a car when driving?
Spring? shock absorber? anything else? It's getting louder and louder every day..

Checked shock absorbers, all in their places, all ok, couldn't see the springs, as didn't bothered my self to remove wheel. lol
But my mate said that sound doesn't seem like a broken spring, but I haven't got any bright idea what can be knocking there?..
