radiator cap wont come off

   the water level in the expansion tank is well below minimum, but jsut went outside to top it up before a long drive and the cap wont screw off.
   
   it turns but nothing happens
   
   need help

   nope will not come off at all.
   
   
   it starts to tighten up when turning but then just clicks and loosens again and goes on like this

   What type of cap is it? screw on one or just the small pressure one that needs half a turn?

   Put a cloth over it(make sure it`s cooled down)then grip it with adjustable grips & turn it.

   im trying to do this while the engine is cold anyway. i said in a previous post that its turning but doing nothing but click
