Couple of problems with my 1.4 VSX..

Hi I have a couple of problems

    1. The temp gauge stays just below 3/4 all the time, doesn't over heat or anything but is that right?

    2. If I leave my car ticking over for a few mins the revs will go down to 0 and back to 10 really quickly and sometimes keep it doing it until the car turns off? Hasn't happened in a while but still

    3. Sometimes when I start the car it makes like a bubbly noise coming from underneath the car it seems? Can't explain it much

If anyone can help i'd appreciate it

1 and 3 could be and air lock in the cooling system, check for a leak and bleed it properly.
2 sounds like a sticky idle control valve, take air filter box off and spray carb cleaner in the top portion of the throttle body, see if that clears it.

Cheers mate, nothing to do with coil pack then as I was told by someone?

Could be but check the icv first, mine does it and it's the icv (waiting for a new one from fleabay) I got one from a scrappy and it's worse than the one that was in.

£16 for a brand new icv for a saxo 1.4 on ebay so it's worth a shot i spose

as for 1 and 3, where would i check to find these air leaks?

Looking for water leaks (this lets air in), check radiator, pipes and footwell carpets. Do you need to top up the rad expansion tank often? If no leaks it might not have been bled properly (using header tank and all 3 bleed points).

well about 4-5 weeks ago my thermostat went and the mechanic fixed it and also topped up anti freeze so im guessing he must of bled everything all correct or would he not ?

an nah dont need to fill up regulary especially with anti freeze i think im set for a couple months, still check it all once a month tho

Just needs bleeding properly then, take it back and tell him there's an airlock in the system.
