VTR won't rev propperly

  1. #1
I was out driving on the country roads today and all was well but then suddenly the car wouldn't rev propperly like it wouldn't accelerate then 5 mins later it was okay, but then it happened again and it just wouldn't pull away, it was like instead of pulling away something was holding it back

I also hit the limiter accidently and it did it again, wondering if it was just an overheating problem

Any help would be really appreciated and if i could stop this happening??

    Thanks

    Coilpack/ignition system is wet/shagged

check the air filter / housing aswell if you have a standard one may be blocked with something

sounds to me like the engines reading too much air intake and cant give the fuel quick enough to get the right mixture...
Could be a problem with the airflow sensor

well i have a performance air filter, but it never happens driving normally, just on this occasion out driving fast with people, how would i know if its broke just looking at them parts?

    and thanks

Airflow sensor is the plug that goes into the same section as the airfilter if i remember correct it is on the back side of the plastic housing..
Just give it a quick blast with cleaning air

Mine did this and it was the fuel pump on it's way out.

well i'll take it work and use the compressor pipe lol, are they a bitch to replace? the fuel pump i mean?

What makes you think it`s an overheating problem has the temp gauge gone up into the red?I`d go with a possible coil pack breaking down.

i think the temp gauge is faulty, and just coz i hit the rev limiter and it did it thats all thats making me think that

I was gonna say maybe a clogged fuel filter.

Tbh it could be anything people have mentioned here...

But, if it's down on power when you give it some, but fine after a bit of a "rest" i'd guess it's due to fuel starvation.... so either a block in the pipes/filter, or a problem with the fuel pump/pressure regulator.
