What size socket / spanner is correct to take the plastic cover of the oil filter off please? Are there any special tools that people use, obviously thinking socket would be better due to location / access.

#9100% 27mm, did mine at weekend. And yes, use a socket, otherwise you'll break it (speaking from experience haha)

#10even with an adjustable you should be able to get it off unless youve got twix limbs.

You need a tapered socket so its a snug fit and reduce the risk of breaking it.
