hi, ive recently brought a 2000 saxo VTR and after driving around if i turn the off and go to start it back up it doesnt always start straight away but will do after about 15 minutes. It also revs on its own up to 3000 when the car is stationary. could someone shed some light on these problems as its really pissing me off?! thanks.

I had this problem on my saxo years ago, changed icv, cleaned everything, but while testing the coolant temperature sensor from cold and whilst hot the readings were fine, but mid temp readings were all over the place, causing the car to rev randomly to 3000rpm until engine was up to temp. It would only start first time from either hot or cold, when trying to start whilst 'warm' it would take between 10-15 minutes. The part is only a fiver, change this first before doing anything else

ive changed my icv and its made no difference.ill try changing the coolant temperature sensor hopefully it should do the job.

To the op,a faulty coil pack can show these symptoms my car was exactly the same until I changed the coil pack.
