Gearbox comes out of gear?

   My gearbox comes out of 5th gear very easily...sometimes third if it's knocked. Is the box knackered or is thre anything i can do?
   I know my clutch isn't top shape if that has anytingt do with it?

   Fair enough, so if i swap to some uprated linkages it should be alright?

   Even if yu swap for a standard one it should be okay probably just worn.. They can be a b**ch to get back together Apparently

   Check gear linkages, rubber ball on the selector. Also check the split pin on the gearbox selector arm.

   Karl, mine does this in 2nd gear when you rev the engine high (Coming into a bend or something)
   
   I've narrowed it down to the ball and socket (main gear selector) and the bush in one of the linkages.
   
   Best bet is to replace the main shaft (Ball and socket) and then buy up graded linkages.

   on my gti i used to have the gear stick used to pop out i had to change my box but i dont know much about cars it was a friend who did it for me

   Piece of piss to remove the linkages, pop them off with a flat blade screwdriver and replace with fresh new ones using a pair of slip joint pliers. Should take 15 mins all in all.

   Does it come out easy on throttle or off throttle?

    is this issue just in 5th gear and when your accelerating then say let off the throttle and it pops out? If so this may not be your linkages but the gearbox itself mime shortly exploded not long after haha

    if its not the linkage it will be the bulk ring gone down inside the box
