can a icv make the engine cut out. engine just seems to cut out i pull over it stutters a bit then starts then wont do it for days. the revs have been jumping a bit to point where its nearly stalling when pulling up to junctions. ive changed everything except icv and lambda. only other thing is head gasket.

Yes it can, mine used to cut out on braking hard from 60/70 ish, frightened the life out me the first time it happened.
Revs on idle used to go up and down like a lap dancer's arse.
Bought a new one and it's been great since, smooth idle and no more frightening me under heavy braking.

did you get any shaking when idling when cold?

It'll cause different symptoms depending on where the shaft it's sticking. You'll get revs from near stalling to 4000/cuts out when lifting off pedal completely/slight hunting on idle, if it's not idling correctly the ICV should be the first thing to check. Best £20 I've spent on the BOS.

This is the icv i bought for my Mk2 vtr, its made by VDO which is the same as the original equipment. Don't bother buying the cheaper ones on ebay they are absolutely crap ive tried them.. either go for original equipment or a good second hand one if you don't want to spend that much

Got mine from ebay, take it off and have a look at the part no, mine was B35/00. Easier to take the throttle housing off and then remove the icv.

Not sure about others but im pretty sure the vts has the same one, well i had a vts inlet and the icv was the same as my vtr one so i assume so.. but as long as its the same shape and has the correct plug it should fit. have a look on the one on your car though it will have the part number so you can match it up.
