Sunroof Leak

  1. #1
Ive had a look at threads on here about sunroof leaks and im kinda stuck.

Had my vtr about a week now and its been raining for most of the week and its really starting to get on my nervs Im really thinking of selling the car its that bad. The leak is coming in from the light fitting inside the car. It only leaks when I drive the car.
Ive had a look at the seal on the sunroof and it seems fine. I'm not confidant in removing the rooflining myself. Should I take it to a garage and get them to have a look?
Or has anyone got any ideas on what i could do myself ?

    Thanks Sam

I had the exact same problem with my west coast! i was shitting myself when it came to removing my headlining! but tbh its quite easy! get yourself a 'haynes' manual and it will take you step by step how to remove it! Also from reading previous threads on Saxp if theres a leak coming through and fillng your interior light, i think its more the aerial thats leaking? not the sunroof, but its always worth dropping the headling down and popping the sunroon out quickly, because unfortunately saxo's are renound for leaky sunroofs! the drain pipe doesnt sit in the lowest part of the sunroof housing, and from what i learnt, you dont have to take the complete headlining out! just take it off past the sunroof, as then you can get to all the bolts holding the sunroof down, BUTsome are nicely hidden by citroen underneath a little fomapad thing at the back of the sunroof

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. Ill have a look on play or amazon or a haynes manual. so once Ive taken off the headlining what should i bee looking out for?
And its not got the original aerial I was thinging of changing it to a bee-sting one anyways should I do this 1st and see it it helps?

when the headlining is down just have a look for any signs of stains or rusty bits where water has been but chances are you won't see much so you could get someone to run a hosepipe over the sunroof area and see where its leaking from then deal with it from there, if its leaking from the sunroof you will probably just need to take it out and reseal with some silicone, they are easy enough to take out

take light out, undo the 8mm nut holding the aerial, put a blob of silicone on the base of aerial and fit the nut back on

My old Clio used to do the same... to find where the leak was coming from, I got a compressor/air gun attachment, put it to where the water was coming from (interior light) and blew through. Water around the edge of the sunroof sprayed about a lot, so made the sunroof seal tight with the car's roof by using bathroom silicone, and it was fine

I had the same problem, I just removed my headlining, undone the bolts for the sunroof, bought some tiger seal and stuck the sunroof to the car, bolted it back up. Then I sealed the sunroof shut and tigerseal my aeril no more leaks now...

Thanks guys it's not as bad atm I'm getting the odd little bit drip now and again I noticed there were some bits of rubber on the sunroof seal so took then off. I don't wonna seal the sunroof shut if I don't have to. When I remove the. Head lining do I need and glue or anything to put it back up with?
