blower fix killed my battery

   i done the fix this morning under the steering wheel cowel, exactlly as it said on the thread. all worked well, blowers and rear demister worked great. went shopping and left the car for a few hours, came back and the battery had been drained, couldnt even bump start it. so had to call recovery, leaving me and my 9 month old sitting there waiting for another half hour.
   dont know if this problem is just my car or what but i wont be trying that fix again.

   worked for a hell of a lot of people including me with no problem. Are you sure nothing else is at fault such as A alternator problem, Old battery that wont re-charge correctly. I would get these checked before blaming the fix mate not always that simple.

   im not sure mate, the only thing i touched was the brown wires, with the battery on i noticed it sparked when i touched them together. so disconnected the battery and put the two wires together, secured them and thought it was good to go. but a few hours later the battery had almost totally discharged. it did try to turn over 1 turn tho when i took the two wires apart, but by then the battery had drained to long. it was working perfect before that. mabey the battery is just naff or the person who had it before me has done something to the wireing before, but i cant chance that with my son in the car with me again. back to tissues and screen cleaner it is for now when it mists over lol.

   How about testing the battery with the "fix" not on the car, no keys in or anything, just a meter on the terminals and see how quickly it goes down.
   
   Then you can test it with the "fix" on the car...that would be pretty conclusive

   Did you leave the door open whilst working on the car, thus leaving the reading lamp on and draining the battery?

   yeah il try that tomorro, i got a tester here somewhere in the house. the car is a project so im expecting some trouble with it. the previous owner was a kid who bodged alot of it. what i have noticed driving home tonight is when the lights are on the hazard and rear demister buttons are slightly lit but when i pressed the demist button the light went out completly on that button?

   no i dont leave the interior light on and the battery was disconnected.

   Try charging the battery overnight & see if it holds it`s charge.

   If the wires were making sparks when you tryid connecting them together, then something is using a current. So you proberly have something draingning your battery constantly.
   
   The blower fix bypasses the ignition barrel. I would believe that this will have your blower and rear demister on all the time unless you turn it off manualy? So did forget to turn the blower of?

    The fix is what citroen use & the blowers should switch on/off with the ignition.

    the blowers did turn off with the engine so wasnt that. the car has been fine ever since i took the wires apart. left it for over 12 hours then went to it today and started fine. all i can think is the guy who had it before me must have bodged something somewhere as like i said touching the wires together produced a spark.
