Spring cutting is a very dangerous and bad idea for the following reasons
1. Springs are shaped at both ends to suit the pans you cut off coils youll loose this shape and they wont seat correctly meaning they can either slide of the pan or push the pan at an odd angle and destroy yout strut to bearing
2. The rates of the spring will be too soft lowering springs tend to be firmer so its harder to compress them fully and hit the bump stop where as a cut spring will still be soft so youll just be hitting the stops all the time and this will effect both ride and handeling quite dramatically
3. The shortened spring length sill require a shorter damper to keep compresion on the
spring as without the damper can extend past the springs length meaning it will come free out of its pans its then pot luck as to wether it goes back into them correctly and a mis aligned spring will mean one corner will sit differently to the rest of the car
also you have torsion bar rears and youll be looking at least 70-80 quid from members on here at cheap to do them garages mostly wont touch them as they can be time consuming aswell as the fact there are 2 methods to do it one it right where the beam is allmost totally dissasembled and things measured and reset
The wrong way you smash off the arm with the torsion bar still attatched and twist it to sit the car lower this puts stress on the beam constantly and leads to premature failing of the main bearings in the rear beam
Its worth spending out on the suspension of you want your car to still be attatched in some way to its wheels if you cant afford the 300 to do it id personally just wait and save up to do it properly
These things are what keep your car on the road and you safe at the end of the day
