Failed MOT

    Hi,

My car failed its mot on:

001 Nearside front (shocker top) Macpherson strut has exessive movement at the upper attachment [2.5.A.1c]

002 Brake load sensing valve linkage seized [3.6.E.4]

003 Nearside front anti-roll bar linkage has excessive play in a ball joint [2.4.G.3]

How easy are the above to fix? Any advice/info would be great.

1 and 3 easy and relatively cheap.

2 is expensive if you buy a brand new one

1 new top mounting bearing approx £20
2 hopefully free off linkage with wd40
3 new drop link approx £7

    Thanks for your reply

001 I seen on ebay that I can get top shocker on ebay for under £30, just wondering what kind of job it is top replace one of them? Any guides online?

002 I've had ago at trying to un-seize brake load valve the other day, but it wont budge. I've tried spraying WD-40 and trying to move it up and down with no joy. Im going to try again in a few days and hopefully get it sorted. If not a trip to scrap yard, but they do look fairly hard to replace due to the location they are in?

003 Ive ordered 2x Anti-roll bars aswell, hopefully that will fix that problem.

    you need spring compressors.

a scrap yard valve will be fooked too, either try again or fit a new one.

Thanks, i have access to spring compressors so its all good. I tried using the search but was unable to find a guide.

Also aswell, how do the "Brake load sensing valve" work? Because my rear suspension does no even move due to the dampers :/

My Brake load sensing valve linkage was seized, I cleaned it all up removed all the rust off etc so moved freely once again and sprayed loads of wd40 on it has passed 2 MOTs since then.

I did have to replace some spring on it though as mine was like over stretched but got one from scrap yard.

there wont be if you had jacked it up, and there's not much when there's load on it.
