Cars off the road so I'm rebuilding the engine. Had an idea of usin a jp4 gasket instead of a j4 to increase the compression ratio. Question is will there be enough clearance with standard cams? I've searched but can't find anybody who's done it.
Jp4 gasket in j4 engine.

#2Short answer is yes. You need to be sure that the heads not been skimmed a few times tho. Just check for clearance.

#3Anyone noticed any gains in power or anything with the increased CR?

#4I used a jp4 gasket to get the desired compression ratio on my turbocharged engine
-
#5I thought you needed low comp for a turbo? A jp4 gasket is 0.6mm.

#6Yes you are right. I used a Decomp plate and the jp4 gasket to get the right CR

#7I'm after the opposite tho. You reckon I'd see any difference in power or many throttle responce with a higher CR ?
