fan fuse blowing

my fan casing is broken due to previous owner having a accident, i put the car right and mot'd it etc realised that the fan didnt cut in

looked in the bay found that the fuse was blown, i changed it and later tonight on the way home i stopped at the shops, waited otuside whilst the misses went in and i heard the fan cut in for just a few seconds and then it cut out

once i got home i checked the fuse in the bay and it had blown again but the fan seems to spin ok... but not clearing the sides 100% do you think due to it being broken its causing it to blow? or do you think the motor itself is playing around

maybe when he had the accident he might have caught a wire causing it to short out and blow the fuse

did think that myself but i have had a good look around the area and wires are all fine... it only done the headlight, bonnet and slight damage to the slam panel and where it pushed the slam panel back slightly it broke the fan casing

Sound like your fan has play in the bearing. Or else it should not hit the sides. This could blow the fuse cause of a short in the motor....

Yea could be... Are GTI and VTS fans the same? Like just unplug and plug them in? Not different connections or anything?

Will take a proper look tomorrow at it to see if its got play or just the casing causing it... I know the casing is actually bent and not where it would normally be

If your fan is sticking then yes it`ll keep blowing.
