hi just fitted a brand new icv and the revs sit at 2k for about 10 sec when first start engine then drop to tickover. but when i drive a few miles and pull up to something the revs drop fast and start bouncing below 1k just about stalling. i got it off ebay wasnt that cheap either got 12 month warrany on it. has anyone else ever seen this problem with a new one? this car is doin my head in now
Problem with new icv

#2it might be worth re setting the ecu mate leave the battery off for 30 mins then try again
-
#3ok ill give a try, i thought about it after fitting it but didnt bother because when i fitted the old one after cleaning it all i had to do was turn ignition off then was fine or same as it was. i also fitted another map sensor off another vtr different part number to origonal though, could this affect the new icv? it seemed fine on old one.
-
#4did you initialize the new icv? ( turn the ignition on and off slowly 6 times then start it up on the 7th ) that sets it up in the correct position
-
#6turn the key on all the way but don't start it up and leave it for a few seconds then turn off leave a few seconds, do that 6 times then start it up on the 7th time and it should hopefully idle how its supposed to.
-
#7thanks for that info ill be tryin it first thing. i take it you had this problem before then? did you get your idling problem sorted in the end?
-
#10Yeah I had a problem with mine for ages, may be a bit different to yours but it used to randomly rev itself and when turning the car off when warm then starting it back up say at a petrol station, the revs used to bounce up and down from about 500-1000rpm. Sorted it in the end with an original icv from ebay was 60 quid but well worth it, wish i had found out sooner must of spent about 100 quid on bits that i didnt need lol.
-
#11you got an original one. did you get a cheaper one first and it not work? mine cost 40 quid part number b31/00, was there a part number on yours.Quote:Yeah I had a problem with mine for ages, may be a bit different to yours but it used to randomly rev itself and when turning the car off when warm then starting it back up say at a petrol station, the revs used to bounce up and down from about 500-1000rpm. #12Yep, £20 one from ebay........been great so far.

#13Yeah this is the cheaper one I tried, part number A96159, they sent me one that didnt work at all, sent that back for a replacement, tried the replacement and that worked for about 10 minutes until the end of the shaft part actually fell off in my inlet manifold lol! ended up just buying the original one which sorted it.Quote:you got an original one. did you get a cheaper one first and it not work? mine cost 40 quid part number b31/00, was there a part number on yours.
The one that didn't work:

The one that works:

Kinda expensive but sorted it out so i'm happy -

#18Iv had this problem with mine, I brought a new icv from euro car part, it sorted the high revs out, but now the revs drop quite low ! My old one was a b31-00 ( part number ) bit this new is a different part number, both are made by the same company... Would this make a difference ?? Does it need to be the exact identicle part number ?
-
#19id stick with the same part number but they might be the same. my map sensor not same number and works fine. the one i got not even got a part number on it just on the box it came in. theres a link to the right genuine one above see if number matchesQuote:Iv had this problem with mine, I brought a new icv from euro car part, it sorted the high revs out, but now the revs drop quite low ! #20Just took mine bk and got another one , it was the only one they had.... Guess what, it was the one that you said didnt work so I was little miffed that that was the only one there. Anyway, it works !!! So im happy haha.
-
#21glad its worked for ya, i didnt fancy swappin it for another one for same to happen again and time wasted. the guy from parts place said they make and sell thousands of them and 99.9% of them are ok doesnt look that way to me. the cone on the end is a differnt shape slightly aswel i noticed.
-
#22The very first one I brought from had already been used lol... At least its sorted.... Till the next fault lol.
-
#24Lmao, I don't think I've ever had a bonnet up so much in my life ! The car is near mint, I love it, if it weren't that way I would of cut my loses a while bk, and to be fair, they don't really cost a fortune to fix.

#25Lol, quick question... What size are the bolts that hold the icv onto the unit on a vts ??? Iv just chewed mine up
where can i get them...
