I've read alot of reviews of how the cheap coilovers for around the £200 mark that can be found on ebay are awful. However, these generally seem to be referring to when the coilovers are wound down 70-80mm or even more. My question is, if you only lower them to roughly 55-60mm, are they still metal on metal when your on a bumpy road and pretty much make the car undriveable? Im not looking for an improvement in handling but an at least slightly bearable ride stiffness? Thanks
Cheap coilovers question

#2Theyre as soft or softer than standard which makes them shit. When wohnd down its metal to metal which makes them unsafe, along with the materials used for the colar making them unsafe too.

#3Ok thanks, im struggling to find springs that actually lower a furio 60mm. Apex 60mm springs lower it what seems like 50 or maybe abit less!
-
#4Dont quote me but if you go down 60 on standard you will be hitting the bumpstops, this is dangerous. Had a few friends get the cheap set who said going down about 40-60 was fine for them, so i went out and bought a cheap set to but havnt got them fitted yet

#5At the moment im on a 60mm apex kit so it has uprated dampers. However the front seems way more like 45-50 instead of 60mm.

#6The apex kit is only a 50mm kit, not 60mm.
Spax do a kit that's 60mm, the VSX one is about £230 from kamracing. That's the lowest kit out there for a decent budget and still being reliable without opting for coilovers.1 user thanked this post: -
#7spax kit only lowered mine 50mm
very false advertising tbh
make a set of custom coilovers if you want to go low -
#8Is that the Spax PSX 60mm kit? Are these the springs that come in that kit? As im thinking of buying these to go with my apex shocks http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/c...-vts-60mm.htmlQuote:spax kit only lowered mine 50mm

But if these are the same springs that go in the PSX kit, then i wont bother if yours only went 50mm on them. Thanks

#9Thats quite a big statement to make, i hope you've done your research before making comments like that?
In my opinion theres too many factors and variables involved to make a statement like that, the main one being the weight of the each individual different car. -
#10There are two different Spax 60mm kits on KamRacing. The VSX is the cheaper one, in the description is states that "This Citroen Saxo Spax VSX suspension kit will lower the Citroen Saxo 1.4 and 1.5D by 60mm. The Citroen Saxo VTR and VTS will be lowered by 50mm."
The PSX kit which is £60 dearer states: "This Spax Kit will lower the Citroen Saxo 1.4 and 1.5D by 60mm. The Citroen Saxo VTR and VTS will be lowered by 50mm."
I'm aware that other websites sell these kits but i presume they all have a relatively identical description of them? -
#11yes paul, when i bought the advertised 60mm vsx kit in 2009 it didnt say anywhere as what it says now about only lowering a vtr/vts 50mm. After fitting them and only lowering about 50mm i was a little disappointed.
I made this thread below to kam, which he quotes the psx kit lowers 'vtr vts 50mm'. However i bought the vsx kit and at the time i made the thread below, there was no mention of lowering 50mm. Ive just seen the product on there website and it seems the vsx kit description has been changed to the correct heights now, so my mistake, its not advertising falsely anymore
If i knew it would only lower my car 50mm i probably wouldnt have bought them at the time tbh.

Dont get me wrong though, im always very impressed with the service and prices kamracing offer, just there previous description for the spax kits were giving false information back when i bought one.1 user thanked this post:
