Fuel guage reading issue

   right so i decided to make this thread as a few people have asked about fuel guages but i havent seen one with this issue.
   
   So i put either 5 or 10pounds worth of fuel in and it goes to half a tank on both amounts.
   15pound will see just over half a tank, even when settled it will do this until i turn the car on and back off after driving.
   
   Thats problem 1.
   
   Problem 2 is when it gets to the bottom my needle doesnt go into the white box, it sits just above the white box therefore my red light just doesnt come on.. i figured this out after i ran out of fuel, with the needle at the point where it stops on the guage!
   
   Obviously i like my pretty red light and would love to know my problem.
   
   Oh forgot to mention when i got the saxo the fuel guage didnt work at all so i reearthed the unit and that got it working again but it just doesnt read properly clearly
   Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try?

   Either you need a new fuel gauge sender or the light on the dash has blown mate.

   You may just have a lazy fuel gauge then.

   So new fuel sender unit? or something else

   Try the sender unit 1st then go from there mate.

   the sender is part of the pump i fitted 5 of them. got one from scrap yard for tenner. easy enough to do

   Yes on later saxo`s they`re part of the pump on early saxo`s they`re a seperate unit.

    source a new sender unit. ur sender unit might be a bit bent or caught on something?
