brown sensor around thermostat housing

   i looked at my bay today and realised there is a brown sensor on the bottom of the housing that bolts to the side of the head but it has no plug going into it?
   
   anyone know what this is and/or why its there and has no plug going to it? lol

   I don`t know what it`s for,but on all cars you`ll find wires/plugs that are not connected to anything.It`s because they sell the cars in other parts of europe that have extra things fitted to them,so rather than change the loom they have plugs not doing anything(if this makes sense)mate?

   Was just strange as car seemed fine to me but noticed the plug without anything connected to it lol
