How do you remove the dip stick tube from the engine block?

    thanks :-)

usually has a bracket 10mm bolt undo that then wiggle and tug and should come out

I just had a quick look and it looks like theres one 10mm bolt at the top and one 13mm? Towards the bottom of the pipe...does this sound right?

    I took mine out today.

When you say remove it, is it because you are trying to fit a manifold and the dip stick doesn't come between the pipes?

Basically, you have a 10mm at the top and a 13mm lower down. un-do the 10mm one (At the top, just below the rocker cover) and you should be able to freely move the dip stick housing.

Take the dip stick out and pull on the tube, you'll pull out half the dip stick housing. Its ok to do this because it has a 0-ring on the end. It may be a bit stiff but a good tug gets it off.

Then to put it back in, snap it back into place and it'll all be good. Be sure to do the bolt up.

No the end of the dip stick snapped off so i have to pull it out the block, so if i remove the 13mm bolt will it all pull out?

I Think it will but i wouldn't like to say so.

I never looked closely at it as i didn't need to un-do it but i assume that it could be part of the oil filter stalk too. So this may need to come off (So you may need to drain the oil)

IMO, What i would do, to be safe is to drop the sump. Drain the oil first and then undo the 10 or so bolts that hold the sump on.

Make sure you renew the gasket though.

just had a look on my engine for you:
there's a 10mm nut at top on the head
and a 10mm nut further down on the block
undo both and you will be able to remove the 2 piece dip stick tube

Don't mean to bump but just wondering if you got the bit of broken dipstick out like this? Just broke mine off lol. Whoever thought of making them from plastic?! Rather not take the sump off as I don't have the means or tools here at Uni so taking the tube off is best. Can you get it out like this (the silly little plastic end I mean)?
