gearbox

   hi guys. just bought a 51 plate vts. completely standard other than a group n exhaust.
   
   its only done 81k and sounds like the gearbox is wining. :-\ but it goes into gear lovely and drives fine. its louder on decelleration and stips completely when i push the clutch down and doesnt do it in neutral!!
   
   any ideas??

   Sounds like input shaft bearings, depends how loud the whine is, if its not 2 bad i'd just keep using it tbh. Welcome to the joys of the MA gearbox lol

   good advice lol. thts kind of my aproach lol. might just invest in a vtr box n.shafts. just incase.
   
   my mate recons its possibly a release bearing or long shagt bearing??? not sure tho
   
   how much.for a decent vtr box n clutch.kit??

   Why do you want a vtr box? And unless your drive shafts are knackered you dont need new ones.

   If its wining then I dont think its the input shaft bearings its the diffs is it not? Either way you have fucked it get your money out for a rebuilt or a 2nd hand box which could also be fucked no win situation.

   well its a quiet wine. although my.group n is loud lol. but its like a quiet wine/tap. agreed it sounds like bearing but the gearbox works perfect. and it low milage and has been.standard its whole life. i cannot feel any knocking throught the gearstick and it never crunches even when im abusing it. not a wobble in the whole car
   
   and whats the diff between vtr n vts box? other than price?

   VTR boxes are fucking dog shit there so long and dull.
   either get a vts box or xsi 1.4 box,

   Lets be honest all saxo gearboxs are dog shit. But a vts box would be the better option if you was to get a 2nd hand box
