One fog light out

    Hi, new to here but been reading the forum for a while and it seems very useful!

    I have a 2002 vtr, and one of the fog lights is out, tried changing the bulb but wasn't that and don't think it will be the fuse if only one is out. Any suggestions on what i can do to fix it?

    Also, after smoking my headlights the lights are pointing really low, I'm think this is becuase the grey waterproof seals got damaged when i was taking them off they got damaged and can't put them on now. Does anyone know where i can buy these from?

    Finally, there is an orange light on the dash with a picture of a key on (I think this is becuase they use to be an alarm on but has now been took out. Is there anyway of getting this off, and will it pass the MOT with it on?

    Best thing to do is smash both of them with a hammer. You will lose nothing by doing that and gain nothing from having them.

    Front fogs are not tested on mot. Not melted the adjusters in the oven?

    How do you think a car without fog lights gets on in an MOT?

    Just smash them.

    i like how the guy commends the forum for being helpful, and the best advice given is to 'just smash them'.... sterling effort there viper.

    Ok, try the adjustors on your headlights (little allan key bolt on the side), then draw a line on the wall, and turn your lights on, adjusting so bot beams hit that line. If it isnt adjusting, then its buggered... (also, but too simple, but check the rolly scrolly switch for raising/lowering them isnt all the way down.... )

    As for your fogs, it shouldnt affect mot, but maybe take the bulbs out of both just so they cant accuse you of driving with only one working? or take the entire lights out for mot until you can get some new ones. It could be that when you changed them, you touched the bulb itself, which can fuck them

    I cant really help with the ligt on the dash though, sorry pal

    I think only one of the fog lights are wired up and you only need the drivers side one to pass mot i dunno why tho. Thats if you are on about the rear fog lights?

    if front fogs are fitted they must both be working.. best thibg to do is remove the bulbs and hide the wires neatly out the way as they will fail you if one works and one doesnt as they are fitted.. as for what it could be.. sounds to me like a wiring problem on the faulty fog or moisture/corrosion in the bulb holder itself.. hope this helps

    No no no, they are NOT tested on the mot. Ive had plenty go through, at various centres!

    its true there not a mot fail as there not classed as being part of the test.
    sayin that tho i had a mk2 mondeo that had the fogs stop working and it was the connectors to the fog lights had melted off, i just replaced the fog light with another from ebay and it was fine after if that helps?

    Right, the problem with the lights pointing low was that the adjuster was cliped into the slot, but not cliped into the light (if that makes sence) was quite hard to get it to clip in to the light, which holds it up and in place.

    As for the fogs, it would be nice it they both worked, but if they will pass the MOT I can live with it, thanks for the help!

    Had a close look at the fog light last night and where the wires connect to it there was water (N)

    Will it need re-wiring and a new blue thing that the bulb plugs into?
