power steering stopped

   hey people had my vts 2001 mk2 for about three months its been an amazing little car however lately I noticed the power steering playing up at first, it was going off and coming on being temperamental, and there was a whirring noise now the power steering is completely packed in anyone have any suggestions? thanks.

   Best thing to do is replace it mate, but what might work as a temp bodge tap hit hardish with a hammer.

   sounds like you need a new pump, mine did this and i hit it with a hammer for a temp fix until it completely packed up (with the rest of the car)

   Mine stopped working not long ago i thought it needed a new pump but it was actually some of the wires were corroded and needed repairing

   I was given the advise 'bash it with a hammer' and it worked for me! (that was about 9 months ago btw!)
