Saxo won't start

    Having searched the forum and looked online, I can't seem to find any problem like I am having. Wen't to look at a saxo today, needs a new rear beam,tyres and potentially a new clutch, the guy wants 600quid for a non runner,with barely legal tyres, needs new axle fitting(included with sale)

    Well phoned the guy on the way, and he said he couldn't get it to start and suspected the battery, after changing the battery, using jump leads all it did was turn over, no faster or more promising that at the start. Well unseizing the brakes didn't help it move,thought the wheels were catching after the rear axle collapsing, but they were turning freely. But the front wheels dragged?in gear or in neutral?

    So cutting a long story short,front wheels wont turn, neutral in gear or clutch in no difference.....thrust bearing?clutch?cable?

    And without out tax tyres or starting and having to fit a rear beam still wants 600quid......More like 250-300 max I was thinking.

    Why don't don't you go a pick a roadworthy saxo in the for sale section? Fuck knows what more surprises that shed has in store for you.

    No tax, no rear axle, front rubbing, clutch gone, no brakes, dead tyres, dead battery, won't start, jeez what else?

    leave it where it is, £150 across the weighbridge if that as scrap price has dropped

    Well that's exactly what I've been thinking, the saxo is a 02 reg with a fair bit of kit and generally is in good nick, and I've got all Christmas to do the work(and there is a lot of it ). And as far as the for sale section goes all the cars are either out of my price range or too far away

    If you can carry out the work yourself then fair enough. Keep in mind that it would cost you a mint and a half to put it back on the road, so that could potentially match the asked prices in the for sale section. The tyres alone equals bye bye £200 mate, clutch about £80 then about the same for a new battery, maybe more if the alternator is faulty.

    The list could go on and on, I reckon you should do the math and see how much it would actually cost you before making a move. Pretty sure you could find a decent VT minus the hassle for 800-1000 if you look hard enough. Especially if you have that much time on your hands. I'd use that time to make a proper decision instead of taking the risk of buying a minger

    big deal its an 02, so its 8 years old and fucked, i'd sooner have a 12 year old one that works for £600

    Recently taken a 106 to the scrap,weighed in and got very little for it, so he's living a lie if he wants 600 for it......

    buy a Y reg vts from us, amazon green,loads of mot,no faults apart from remote central locking is duff, 91k, £800, may be £200 quid more but at least it drives lol

    maybe £200 more but it will cost him that just to get some tyres on it, not even starting to spend time and money on the other faults.

    my point exactly, why pay 600 for a non runner with duff tyres,beam,probably naffed clutch when for 200 more you can drive away a happy bunny?? wait long enough and they come along at the right money

    Well my last saxo was a 97, but that's gone now (sold to be rally prepped) I currently don't have that much cash on me(I despise christmas...) and need a car soon as I am driving my nans xsara and she needs it most days. I could probs manage 4-550 but still, at that price im going to need to work on it most likely.

    I would buy the Y reg from you mate....only prob is cash! might end up buying a xsara vtr or hdi, 2 about 10 miles from me....mot'd and taxed but saxo's are more appealing :/

    Ok guys,bringing up an old thread, but I have now bought the car(a good price hehe) But need help getting it to start,

    as said,tries to turn over but really struggles, and the wheels are locked(wont rotate) does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?
