Hi people. Got myself an R reg saxo vtr the other day, i have immediately serviced and done the following

    oil
    oil filter
flushed oil system out, all oil drained ( no water in drained oil )
    fuel filter
    air filter
    new thermostat
flushed cooling system, cleaned it out and re filled, checked rad and pipes for leaks.
    New spark plugs.

The car is running like a dream but the temp gauge sesnor cranks all the way to just under red a few mins after driving, it drops when I blast the heating on full any ideas? and just out of interest, is the stock vtr dashboard blue? or is it black ?

    cheers people

Did you bleed it properly? Should run at just under halfway before fan kicks in.

hi mate, yes bled properly, even got a mechanic to bleed it again and still the fan kicks in when it reaches 3/4 on the gauge? the car seems to run brilliantly though :/

Try changing the blue sensor on the thermostat housing(controls the gauge reading)cost roughly £15.00.

ye i will try that, just out of interest where does everyones gauge tend to rest in general? half or three quaters, mine tend to be 3/4 to the top and then rises a little when I put it through its paces ie motorway etc?

mines exactly the same, mine sits just below 3/4 though and gets higher when givin it some. it was a bit higher before changed thermostat. the fan kicks in at a certain temp though over 100 degrees think so it cant be overheating. ive changed nearly everthing aswell but it runs fine. my last vtr never went above half. ive asked about this a few times, a lot of people say some run a bit hotter.

If youve bled it properly it should sit at halfway. I was having this problem, but I'm running a slightly different xsi engine in my VTR and a 82 degree stat cured the problem of its sitting steady at 3/4s back to the more normal half way
