   Looks like I got bummed! Just done a MOT history check and it seems someone has been playing about with the mileage

   youve either been bummed or it could be a new engine and they clocked it back to match. go back to the dealer and if he says it has a new engine ask for a receipt to prove it mate!

   It's the first one... I have been bummed VIN number is the same up until the 2010 MOT....

    That sucks mate, I thought my old GTI had been clocked after checking the MOT history online.
    
    Luckily mine had a different engine in for a few of the MOT's so it hadn't actually been done.
    
    Learnt the hard way mate, always ask for the last MOT number so you can do a check online.
    
    If there is nothing to worry about then they will always give it to you, I did it on my VTS and the seller was happy to provide it.

    I'd take it back with the paperwork mate and ask whats going on, you never know the person they got it off could of swapped the clocks to increase the price of the car for sales purposes, lots of people never check the papers till after they've bought the car and got it home.
