Im going to look at a very tidy looking saxo VTR on saturday.

Its a red 52 plate with 57000 miles on the clock.

Can anyone suggest anything to look out for whilst im there because im new to the french scene so i havent got a clue.

    help would be appreciated

    thanks.

Angle on the wheels at the rear is the first thing if the camber on one or both wheels is like / \ and not l l then thats a sign of the rear axle being knackered which can be expensive to replace.

Rust aswell in the engine bay, by under the ECU tray

Test drive it and check for clunking/knocking when turning corners, this is common on driveshaft failure, not too much to replace but still worth knowing.

Mayo coloured substance under the oil cap also, could be headgasket failure.

Rear beam, rust in the rear arches and under ecu/fuse box, white crap under oil cap (a sign of HG failure), dodgy idle, missfiring etc. Then just the normal checks you would do when looking at a used car.

Or it means it's been fixed... XD

Check headlight adjusters too, and make sure the revs on idle aren't bouncing like said above

Sorry I meant the electric adjusters under the steering wheel. The manual adjusters are above the headlamp - there's a torx screw on top of the unit

    They're fucking terrible

Naw they're great little hatchbacks! Cheap to insure / tax, nippy, spacious boot. I bought mine as a run-around but I've grown attached to it!

As long as my knees fit under the steering wheel and my feet on the pedals I'll be happy, being 6ft 3 with size 13 feet can often pose problems

...actually that could be a problem - the pedals are quite close together

Yeah the pedals are close together on the saxo, although my feet are 11 and im 6ft 1 and I dont have problems.

Failing that I would advise a transit

As above, I really wouldn't worry about space. I'm just over 6 ft 3 and have size 12 feet and I'm fine.
