saxo cut out :(

hello guys ive had trouble starting my saxo it cranks over fine but struggles to start then finally does. i went to start it this morning and when i turned the ignition on and waited for the drrrrr click noise (the fule pump i think) it made a horrible loud grrrr derrr noise but then i turned the engine on it started fine. but then i drove along the street and it just cut out and wont start could this be the fuel pump as ive changed my spark plugs, new battery, and done a alternator test which turned out fine

Could possibly yeah, especially if you've ruled out a lot of other things.
