charger noobie need help

   Hi there. this may sound like a very stupid question to some but i have experience on working on normal/turboed viechles but never a supercharged one. Ihave looked everywhere and cant find the answers so i have come to saxp for help
   
   1) does a charger use engine oil like a turbo
   2) what determines the ammount of boost a charger produces? is it the pulley or is there a wastegate in the pipework that prevents over boosting?
   
   just some things im baffled on. any help will be much appreciated. thanks

   i beleive the charger is filled with its own type of oil. i dont think it uses the engines own oil like a turbo does. correct me if im wrong.
   
   boost is determined on the pulley size yes. there is probably more to it though.
   
   im sure if you looked at adz's supercharged amazon green vts, alot of priceless info is in his thread aswel as a greatly built supercharged car.

   Yeah I've gave it a read and also pmed him for info. top built car that shame amount of problems he's had with it though :,(

   im in the middle of doing one 2
   
   supercharger comes with its own oil does not use engines oil comes with its own oil container.
   
   the pulley size on the end of the charger determines how much boost you want but if you go to small it overspins the charger and this alters ur warranty when bought new.
   you can also get a restricter bung type thing to put on the end of the charger unit itself to restrict it to a certain bhp.

   Yes Mate that helps but thought it was the bigger the pulley the more boost was produced. cheers

   Yea he's had an unfair amount of problems, but he's stuck to his guns and the car is going to be a weapon on track. I'd love to see it in the flesh, hopefully I will at fcs/trax.
   
   He's a helpful bloke so he will reply unless he's forgotten.

   no its smaller the pulley the more boost, if you think about it the smaller the pulley is the charger will be spinnin alot quicker a larger pulley wont be as much boost
