brake master cylinder

I was wondering if any1 could tell me how would I know if my master cylinder is damaged/broken the reason I ask is because when I apply the brakes it feels as if the pedal sinks the longer u hold the brakes and you have to pump the pedal to build pressure up if you know what i mean, Ive got pretty much new discs and pads all the way round so I know they arent a problem. Cheers

Bleed em and take up the slack on the bar that runs across from your pedal to your servo, under the bonnet.just the slack.
you could change your fluid if its been in there for a while,as moisture get in from the air.

It does sound like you have some air in the system, as above give them a good bleed until the pedal is firm again, if the pedal goes spongy in time after this i'd imagine there is a problem with the seals on the master cylinder, either replace the seals or look at the cost of a new m/c.

Hope this is of some use
