Cambelts/pump timing....

  1. #1
So the Saxo went into a different garage today for a belt kit/pump all in £245.

Waited 7 hours then get a call from the garage telling me the motor is as flat as a pancake and wouldn't pull shit off a stick, granted it's no way near as rapid as my fucked Modus which is understandable but it's not given me any reason to think there was a problem prior to work being done.

The only thing I can think of is pump timing, would anyone expect a garage to balls this up - more to the point, is this a newbie mistake or can it happen to anyone during the course of changing a timing belt?

    Wearing thin now!

    get them to fix it

Beats me how a garage can get this wrong!!!

If it's valve timing would that suggest the cam wasn't pinned during the belt swap, it moved somehow?

    Cheers 2k5...

mongols, if they can't cope with doing a saxo belt i'd love to give them something like a v6 pug or v6 rover to do

If the engine is as bad as they say, I wouldn't rule out valve/ piston contact? Idiots. :/

The car was running fine when you took it to them, now it`s not so the problem is down to them to rectify,I think a mention of trading standards is in order here.

    Cheers Steve.

I think they are taking the piss! I'll start with Trading Standards and swiftly move onto solicitors if need be! They can't fuck someone's motor up especially so close to Christmas and then dole out that 'we're not guilty' bollocks... Jesus, all for a friggin timing belt!

    Hard work!
