Removing locking wheel nuts without the key...

  1. #1
    Hello!

The guy I bought my Saxo off had 'lost' the locking wheel nut key.

Anyway, I need to get the nuts out before my cam belt change in a few weeks because they need to get the front wheel (s) off.

Mine are the el cheapo nuts like this:

Can I just bang a socket over them or would it be better to take it to a garage?

Are the £15 halfords removal kits any good?

    Cheers

i had the exact same problem, even the same key!

took it to a garage who charged £20 to hammer and chisel them off, they are a complete cunt, and at least 4 other garages told me they weren't even going to try !

best bet is to just go to a back street garage like me who will be happy to do it.

i personally would just take it to a garage. i tried for ages to get mine of, ende dup taking it to garage, took them 10 mins, and charged nothing. i went to dexel tyres.

Think a garage may be a better idea, my alloys are barely marked so I don't want a dent by trying it myself lol

Take them to a garage... Tried angle grinding some off at my work place and it took a stupid amount of time and stress. Let someone else have that hassle

i tried for 5 minutes to get mine off, hammered my finger into my alloy, so got a garage to do it. was getting new tyres anyway so was all included

I have phoned a tyre place and they said they will give it a go...

Take it to a local welding place with 4 big nuts. weld the nuts through the hole to the bolt and let them cool. Then you can use a normal socket to remove them. There is no other way to remove these we have every tool at work and none of them work on these.

Welder will charge you a tenner and will leave your wheels unmarked.
