Hi i have just been told by my friend that he had brembo brakes on his old 106 gti and that if i got some for my vts they would fit straight on. Has anyone else done this? and if so are they much different to the standard ones?

#2They're are hundreds of variations you can't just buy any random brembos calipers...
-
#3No at GSF they sell pads and discs just for the VTS/106 GTI apparently, i was just wondering if anyone had tried them and if they were much better or not
-
#4i had brembo discs on my vts, tbh there is no difference to a standard disc.
only way you will feel a difference is if you change the calipers too.1 user thanked this post: -
#5Thanks
In that case i shall be getting them, it has been stood for 3 months, they are rusty, and i cleaned them by driving down the road with my brakes on but they just dont seem very sharp, like 1.1 brakes! needs new pads so might aswell

#6You will not "feel" any difference in a disc change. Variations in discs are there for the purpose of dust removal, gas removal, and mainly heat dissipation. So they are only really going to be noticed with hard use
-
#7you realise i said 'NO difference' lol

#8i have brembo brakes...best mod ive done, not dics though
-
#9Ive got Brembo max discs and i can't remember what pads they were but they were racing pads, and there is a major difference!

#11pads make a massive difference. so they would be first port of call when considering uprating the braking system. don't hold back on them, buy the best and you will get the best.

#12If I was to brembo callers under vts rims I would need spacers right ? What size spacers would i need and would I need longer longer wheel nuts and would I need spacers on the rear to make it look right, handle right or would be ok with just spacing the fronts

#13you need to ask yourself why you want brembo?Quote:If I was to brembo callers under vts rims I would need spacers right ? there are plenty of brake upgrades, that will fit for a fraction of the cost that you could be happy with. -
#14Just for the look Realy tbh with you but I would like to go to a boost set up in time
-
#15They make the best brakes in the world (in my opinion) and they stop bloody well. my old ones were corroded and wouldnt stop!

#16Buy some decent pads for your current calipers, then buy these...

#17so does the OP just mean brembo oem spec discs? not the brembo calipers off a 406 coupe?
