Exhaust snapped!

Well driving to work this morning, thenthe car suddenly sounded like a tank.

The exhaust was scraping on the floor so had to turn round and leave my car at home and let my mate pick me up.

I had a look were it had snapped and it's at the bottom of the cat to the pipe so on the bend, What do i need to fix this? Is it a full new cat?

If it has snapped or broken on one of the pipes which are part of the cat then you will need a new one, there are two different types.

One is part of the manfiold itself, i.e right in front of the engine block and the other is under the car.

Hahah had it once, and near the CAT is dodgy, can't really drive on that. Yes you will need a new CAT. Not to worry, the part itself is £70 - ish + £5 for fitting kit + 15-20 minutes labour. Or do it yourself and save a few bucks as it's 6 nuts and a lambda sensor to screw / unscrew...

The picture shows were it has snapped (in red), So all i need is the CAT & the fitting kit?

Going to struggle for next day delivery as it's sooo near christmas

try a eurocarparts near you? That's quite a common part.

mines not far away from doing this. Thats why i want a manifold soon as possible. Kill two birds with one stone and all of that. Mines blowing further down between the bracket and second lambda sensor. I patched it up but seeing this makes me want my manifold even more.

May be an opportunity to get an aftermarket manifold

If you need to replace yours with a standard, there are 4 bolts which hold the cat to top the manifold part and these can snap easily (happened to me before) and then just a fitting kit to connect the downpipe to the centre section of the exhaust (two bolts, springs and nuts etc). May be able to reuse your fitting kit but depending on how old it is, it could be rusted to shit.
