Rubber squeak on gear change

  1. #1
    Hi .

I test drove a vtr the other day , belongs to my mate , hasn't been ragged and is an 03 plate on 75k , the car has been stood for 6 month as his ex won't let him pick his daughter in it ?! And ways when I test drove it when I changed gear I could hear/feel a rubbery squeak coming from the gearstick , any ideas to what it could be or potential problem ? Also anything to look out for with the car been stud for so long .

    Cheers

no problem, just squeaky selector arm, that connects to gear stick. change if you feel its necessary but remember its 8 years old so it should be expected

Ok cheers mate , didn't think it would be anything major , just wanted to check because it would piss me right off , anything to look for with it being stood for a while

mine used to make that noise from the gearstick i lifted the gaitor up and lubed up the ball that the gearstick pivots on its been fine since so its nothing major, and just check the usuall stuff when buying a car really, check out the brakes too likely that they could be a bit knackered if its been standing a while and the exhaust and obviously underneath for rust etc should be fine on an 03 plate though.
