Map sensor wiring

  1. #1
Ive just done a 16v conversion and the wiring loom supplied with the engine has had the map sensor plug cut off and crimp connectors fitted!
Only problem is these have come off the sensor!
Does anyone know which pin goes where or could supply a picture of their map sensor plug?
    I have

    2x pink wires
    1x green and yellow wire

It's got the later style plug and is off a t plate so pretty much any single plug ecu small inner wing plug wiring loom should do!

Thank you very much in advance

ask karlb if he can have a look at his, we had to cut and splice a later connector (without the wire clip type) to an earlier loom on saturday, can remember the 2 pinks and 1 green/yellow and its not wrapped in tape, just joined with bullets so we could swap them round as getting the 2 pinks the wrong way round makes for some wierd idling issues

Just connect the green one and try cranking it over with the pink ones on which ever you think , it won't fire unless there right

wassy's ran with the 2 pinks the wrong way round but the tickover was crap

It'll start and rev up nicely with any combination it just doesn't idle or hunts badly
I feel like I've tried all combinations!?
Trouble is it also has ph3s and standard management so it's never going to idle great

how far from aylesbury are you? know thats where karl lives and as i say, the wiring to the map sensor is unwrapped and you could have a look at that one if it helped? did you hear the engine running prior to installation, just saying as if it has cams etc theres a chance it could have idled like a pig previously and your trying to sort someone elses issue

Standard behaviour with a non-working map sensor, id try different combinations or a new map sensor

I don't know anything about the engine and how it runs,
    We fitted the cams.
I'm going to nick the map sensor off the vtr lump as the numbers are the same and the car drove to us!
This car has definitely been a lot harder work that initially expected but I won't lay till I've got it all sorted nicely!
I had the wiring break to my map sensor on an old Vts I had when I was 19 and that did exactly the same so yeah I'm pretty confident this is the problem, but with the way this car seems to be testing me I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the last issue lol!
I'll message that Karl bloke see if he can send me a picture or go see Dom as he's also fairly local, or maybe message Fulch but he may have an early plug.

Cheers matey, I've got it plugged in and wired up new and it does idle better but not good enough so I'll have to do some more investigation, maybe after Christmas lol!

I dunno if it makes any difference but mine doesn't idle 100% smooth, cna seem a little rough at times but i have been told that it's okay to run like it, it's not major like it doesn't hunt or die on itself, the revs don't jump around, just the engine sounds like it's chugging.

Cheers matey, I've had a few and none have idled brilliantly, so I know how they should idle, but this one is quite bad, though it does have ph3 cams, decent exhaust manifold and standard management so it'll never be great but I can't imagine it should be this bad!
I'll do some diagnostics between Christmas and new year, slightly worried about steam out the exhaust and milky oil, hoping its just condensation as I really want matey to have his car back to enjoy.
Should have just been plug and play, lol

Ah fair enough, is this the red vtr that belongs to wezzasaxo on here?

Milky oil = headgasket 9 times out of 10...
