exhaust system. help

Manifold to decat bolt has a spring , does anyone know what this does? THanks

The springs are there because the Saxo has no flexi section on the exhaust. You don't want everything rigidly bolted up or you run the risk of cracking something.

just gives the system a bit of bounce and play, to stop damage

Its to account for movement in the engine etc, as said if its solid you run the risk of something cracking, also a friend just put bolts in his, and the centre section and backbox were forever knocking on the underside of the car. Annoying to say the least.

+1 about the knocking. i just have bolts in because i'm too lazy to change to the proper ones. when its on the middle hanger the exhaust knocks like hell on the bottom of the car
