Important! : running like $hite

I'm having a spot of trouble with my 106 GTi. It seems to be hesitating badly when trying to accelerate and splutters under load at low revs. It has got steadily worse over the past few days and now it has lost quite a bit of power.

It is fine when cruising and at high revs but at idle it is very lumpy and sounds almost like a "boxer" engine when I try to pull away with any enthusiasm. It splutters and jerks about. I am going to change all the filters over the weekend to try and eliminate them, if the problem persists what would this most likely be?

    Possibly coilpack..

£200-£300 from main dealer 60-120 from your local motor factors.

Or a second hand one for like £20-£30 most.

Check the condition of the spark plugs and replace if needed.

Then I would move onto coilpack

I had a problem like this in my saxo, it didn't want to start it was misfiring like a b**** and wouldnt really want to rev, turned out that as I was changing my spark plugs I had two NGK plugs and two really cheap ones and the bolt on the had rusted and they were dead. Now it runs so smooth which it has neve done lol.

Coilpacks aren't really expensive on eBay and you don't have to get one for a GTI because I've got a VTR one on mine

You must be the biggest plank that has ever posted in this thread.

    Spluttering, start with Sparks, Coilpack.

Worst case scenario, timing belt has slipped a tad.
