saxo 1.1 lowering

    1.1 desire lowering
    looking at 350mm lowering for my 1.1 desire.
    Im sure this question has been asked thousands of times but couldnt see a previous thread on this querry.
    How difficult is this work to diy and what springs would folks suggest. its my first saxo and ive got hold of a haynes manual to show basics but doesnt really say if its something i should be trying by myself. im no mechanic but am very mechanically minded having owned and worked on a few motorbikes in the past

    I'm sure you mean 35mm not 350mm lol doesn't matter what make if your just lowering for looks

    My house mate told me what to do the first time I did it and its simple done plenty in my lifetime lol every Sao is different if you had a brand new car and all the tools could do it in 20min but likelihood is that it'll take a full day just make sure you have the tools before staring, need a nice long strong bar to Leaver the wishbone down (we use a weight lifting barbell lol), ball joint seperator, swan neck spanner, torx bits etc

    got a heard of tools but if i got whats needed i couldnt say. may go to a garage and have it priced up and see if its worth just paying someone, but ive always been a hands on individual and would rather have a go myself first. then if i suceed ill know how to do it next time round etc plus bit tight on funding now i became a dad for first time just over a month ago

    When I did mine I NEEDED (tried a smaller one first got no where) 14lbs Sledge hammer, a 20mm iirc steel bar. Hit it hard and they will come out. The top torsion bar (hitting from the drivers side) was the hardest the bottom bar was a lot easier to get out.

    Where abouts in Birmingham are you? If you're willing to travel a little Im located in Nuneaton CV109EL postcode, £100 for the full job front & rear.

    Lowered a vast amount of Saxo's and 106's on the forum, more than welcome to wait whilst it's done.

    im at my GFs at the moment in oldbury near m5 jct 2. £100 for front and back? need to buy springs too?

    spend an extra 10-20 can get some 50mm Apex for that I think...

    im getting 15" alloys with 195/45 tyres and dont wanna have to much rub if possible. will a 50mm kit lower too much?

    Yep £100 for the full job, just bring along whichever springs (and dampers if you have sufficient budget for those too) that you'd like fitting.

    Not one of the most popular choices, mainly because the majority go with the more well known brands, they'll do the job for a budget.

    50mm Apex springs shouldn't really be used with standard dampers. At full standard damper extension the Apex 50mm spring is too short and there is a risk of unseating. A small risk as it's unlikely the dampers will ever get to full extension, but they're best used with the Apex shortened dampers which are a very good bit of kit for the price, the full kit can be bought for just over £200

    Which 15 inch alloys are you getting? On the 1.1 flat arch models the wheel choice can be more significant to causing rubbing more than lowering, so if they're aftermarket alloys rather than a standard one from 106/saxo options then check that the offset is correct.

    There's a few good threads with pictures of all sorts of heights so well worth a quick look to see how low you'd like to go :-)

    its the team dynamics mode alloy im looking at, been to wheel maniacs earlier and they were saying that they are a direct fitment for saxo and no spacer needed. whether that makes any difference to what space they use in wheel arch.

    id be happy with 35mm lowering. would standard dampers be suitable with 35mm springs?

    just had a look at a video tutorial on youtube for torsion bar lowering and looks pretty complicated so glad theres friendly help available on here lol. ill have a look around for a spring kit and once i got one ill send you a message. might not be for a few weeks yet as christmas has just been etc
