While i was washing my car with the jet wash i noticed paint started flaking on my door it looks to me like abit of surface rust around the door strip's then my door strap goes aswell and the last owner has done a bad repair to little chip's in the door anyway. So i might aswell replace the door but what i want to know is how to i take the locks out of the old one and put into the new one.
Also is it a easy job to replace the door?
    Thank's

To take the door off, open it and unhook the catch thing then there is bolts around by the hinges, carefully remove the bolts but make sure someone is holding the door lol, to take the lock out remove the door card by unscrewing the torx screw in the door pull and pop the wingmirror cover off an I think there is another one there, take the window handle off if you don't have electric ones.

Gently pull at the door card because there is plastic clips all round which are prone to snapping, after simply loft the door card over the lock pin and it will come off, look around by the locking mechanism and remove the nuts etc to free the lock. Then do this to your new door

Unfortunelty after someone knackered up one of my lock barrels trying to get into the car I had to switch the drivers barrel with the passenger on, so i've done this before!

the doors easy enough to replace. A few bolts and the power supply. To remove the lock barrels, as that's all you need to switch, or at least on my one (pre romote locking). You have to take the door card off. Theres 1 screw but the wing mirror and another in the door handle bit, take the speaker cover off with a flat blade screwdriver (its just clipped in). After that run the flat blade screwdriver around the door car and seperate it from the door (when your at the scrappy collect a few (say 5-10) spare clips, they ALWAYS break!

After that peel back the "windproofing". Holding the lock barrel in place is a clip that IIRC is a U shaped clip, unclip it and pull the back of the barrel off the pully (Be very careful doing this). Then slap it all into your new door and make sure its all working before you add the door card back on, oh and make sure you put the windproofing back in place with some double sided sticky. It really is suprising what a good job it makes of stopping drafts!

    Hope it goes well fella!
