I have recently bought a saxo vtr, silver over gray model.

It needed a top end rebuild as the owner done such a bad job of a repair last time I took on the job. All the last owner told me was it needed a head gasket so that all I replaced! He sold it as it was not pressurising.

So I took it apart, got the head skimmed new gasket set and bolts, new water pump ( the reason it wasn't pressurising ) now it sounded like it was misfiring on one cylinder so I bought a new coil pack but I seem to have the same problem? Can any one give me some guidance and knowage please

Did you compression test it before you did the head gasket?

hmmm did you have the head pressure tested at the same time of skimming? did you regrind valves/new stem seals how was the condition of the valve stems themselves?

No never got a pressure test as I never known a head to be that bad, but yes I lapped the valves in and checked the clearance. New stem seals and valves was just a little pitted. I do have another head ready to go on just in case. But I wanted to see other peoples views 1st. This is the first time this has happened to me. My 7th saxo.
