Incorrect, the car needs 12.4v to start, any less than that and other things may work (as they dont require as much) but the car wont have enough juice to start the engine.

Nothing works now tho central locking nothing...n it's the way everything lighted up on the dash n then just died.

I will try using the jump leads tonight.

Sounds like your battery was nearly flat, when you've got in and turned stuff on, then tried starting it, its used up rest of the juice in the battery.

If it starts with jump leads connected then its obviously a battery/alternator fault. Which is pretty simple and cheap.

You'll need a voltmeter to find out if its battery or alternator, with the car running, connect the voltmeter to the battery terminals, if its reading around 14v (say 13.4v to 14.4v) then your alternator is working.

My bet would be the cold weather has screwed your battery.

Plus when you do jump start it switch off the blowers heated rear window etc,as these are the things that draw most current.

get your battery tested, chances are it will do it again. Classic winter breakdown tbh
