Rocker cover baffle rattling HELP!

  1. #1
My baffle under my rocker cover is rattling and generally doing my nut in, the reason being is i broke one of the studs that hold the cover on and cant find a replacement any where so i used a bolt through the cover.

But there is 2 washers about a cm thick made from metal are these standard?? im thinkin they should be heat proof plastic or something!

the metal spacers are standard, they are there to space the baffle from the top of the rocker cover.... where have you got the spacers installed? between the rocker and baffle or between the head and baffle?

Are you sure its the baffle? A lot of people have their exhaust heatshield rattle about causing a similar noise.

I have them between the cover and the baffle and these seem to be fixed but the rockers still rattle even though i have adjusted the tappets to 0.20 on the inlet and 0.40 on the exshaust but still loud ,??? Im thinking worn rockers or camshaft ????? also we have a low mileage citroen ax head i could take rocker assembly off will it fit???

Sure its not injectors tapping?? Or knackered plug? I had a loud knock that ended up being a plug working loose

It has started cutting out when cold you maybe right???

is the baffle needed or not? can i take it out and leave it out? ive lost one of the spacers and dont want to put it back

if you remove the spacersand see if noise goes?
but you need the baffle to seperate liquid oil from vapour ,so only vapour goes up the breather pipe.
it best to do tappets when hot --
you will find they are loosser when hot than cold --same again -- check them both hot = cold if you don,t believe me = personally i would use .2 +.3 for clearance --it don,t matter what gap they are when cold ,you need clearance when engine is at running temp .
It is possible the rocker arms are worn which will give a false reading when setting them-

Other point the baffle plate maybe warped so not sitting correctly hence the rattle mate.
