Right guys had a quick brows through the most recent few threads of similar title and not the same problem...

In shirot the car wont start and barley turnes over...

    it's a 1.1 Mk2

i've tried using jump cables from my dad's car to start and also a freshly charged batery and struggles to turn it over possibly 1 turn but stupidly slow... and trying to bump it is the same issue just locks wheels

    what ive done:

replaced starter motor and same issiue cleaned up
    earth on top of gearbox

im coming to the conclusion on somenthing internal thats seizing but.... i drove it up from stafford (110 miles) (after 6 months not starting) for it to sit for 3 months befor this issue was found.... any help would be great on where to look would be great

    regards

Whats the voltage like going to the starter?

12-14 volts when on jumpers then 10v when trying to start not tested voltages when just powered off battery..as it barly turns over.

Check the cable going to the starter for breaks.

if you are leaving it for that length of time, the oil is most likely fucked. the coolant also... I would give it a good service mate. spark plugs. oil, oil filter, and coolant. maybe HT leads and fuel filter too

plugs out turn it over by hand, if it feel really stiff then its likely the engine is seizing, if its not then id suggest making sure the battery amperage is high enough.

Similer thing happened to a mates of mine on his 1.1, wouldnt bump ect. Tried turning engine over by hand, nothing. So I took the timing belt off the top pulley and turned by hand and bottom still wouldn't. So i stripped the sump off but found nothing out of the ordinary. Removed the head from car for further inspection into block and still nothing, so whilst head was off after alot of head scratching i removed the starter motor and found the end had come off and was jammed in the fly wheel.
