This normal after mani fitted ?

I have like a slight sucking / tinny noise from round middle of exhaust on medium - strong acceleration. Is this to be expected after decatting. I have a custom stainless exhaust and stainless heatwrapped mani.

Also going on your experiences, does the loudness tend to calm down after a while ? Something about, due to carbon build up in the exhaust ?

Regarding the second part of your post, nope the loudness will remain with a decat - surprising just how much 'silencing' it actually does.

When I changed my mani from standard to a raceland I was a bit disappointed how 'tinny' it sounded, but you get used to it.

Its not too bad it actually is ok when doing 30 or mid way up the revs but if i accelerate with a heavy foot it kicks in then.

I just heard something about the tinny noise calms down with carbon build up.

Also the car performs a hell of a lot better ive really noticed it cause i had a bad blow in my standard downpipe so its much better. The suckin noise is normal then, higher airflow though the pipes maybe ?
It doesnt sound like a blow, more like a shit load of air rushing though the exhaust.

My raceland does the same thing, upto 3k revs you can't hear it but 3-5k it sounds tinny.

its not bad mate, Honest. Mine is fresh as a daisy so maybe it will bed in or something.

In all fairness with the increase in throttle response i got id say get one cause mines pretty darn good to be fair. Definately noticable.

I see. Ill just keep check on mine see how it goes. I wonder if anyone has ever had a centre silencer welded in aswell as a decat. Reason i ask is cause when i had my custom system fitted he asked me, do i want a straight through or centre silencer.

Maybe its food for thought, might take some of the resonance out the exhaust.

MK1 VTR cat will not be in the downpipe, it will be under the car, as in not part of the manifold.

To decat you need a decat pipe, can pick them up for £15-£30

Ahhh I read it wrong, my bad.

To decat a Mk2 VTR you need an aftermarket manifold, can pickup a second hand raceland for £80-£120
