Important! : Car not starting but ticking over HELP :S

   Basically I was driving and my car started bogging down like it had ran out of fuel. Then it just cut out because it had completely ran out of fuel supply. Whenever I try starting out now there's no fuel whatsoever being pumped. I turn the key to the 3rd click and I can't even hear the noise of the fuel pumping.
   
   From these symptoms does anyone know what it could be?
   
   Oh and before you ask there is plenty of petrol in the car lol.

   fuel pumping noise means starting motor is working but isnt connecting to the flywheel, why this would stop the car whilst driving i do not know. also could be alternator?

   sounds like the fuel pump to me

   could be it priming but correct if im wrong that it needs the starter motor to do this?

   When u turn the key to the third click you should hear the fuel pump priming. if not then its the fuel pump thats away

   I'd bang the tank with a rubber hammer and see if it primes up/starts. Usually when the fuel pump is knackered they'll work after banging the tank.

   i just read the first thread again and noticed he said it WASNT priming so yes it is the fuel pump knackered

    When you say tap it with a hammer do you mean from the top while it's still in? Or take it out first?

    Easier to just change it mate
