Important! : Car won't startup!

Hey everyone, I'm in some kind of a mess now...
My saxo 1.1i just won't startup for some reason...
2 Days ago, on the afternoon, I drove it home, and the next day's evening, it just wouldn't start up. The engine started to "start" (can't explain it better), and then, stopped, and didn't even do anything more. Today, it does starting noises very slowly, and then stops.
It has enough petrol, and I think it is the battery, since now, the remote key, can't even close or open the doors, and I have to use the normal key, good thing the alarm doesn't fire up like it use to do with my brother's saxo.

So, do you guys think its the battery? Can I solve it by using someone's car battery to startup?

Ps:oh, btw, I can hear the fuel pump, and the petrol meter rises up to near the R, altough when I left the car the last time, the petrol meter was a bit higher...

I had a problem like this, it might be showing petrol but it could be the way it's parked eg of you park it facing up a hill your fuel will go down and park it facing downhill it will read more than what it really has. Get a can of petrol and put that it just to make sure and give it a jumpstart an see if it stays running and charges the battery, check if any lights have been left on and check the earth point on top of the gearbox is tight mate

Yep, use another battery that you know is fully charged and holds its charge.

Plug it in, if the problem goes then you need a new battery. If it persists volt test the alternator and check earthing points + connections.

I'll try starting it with the help of other car battery, then I'll report back.
I'm in college, away from my parents and I need to find someone that has the cables to do that, or I'll have to buy them.

Problem solved, I had some people push the car, then accelerate on 1st gear, and it ran. Push starting the old-fashioned way xD

I'll need a new battery though, I'll hope its not an alternator problem.

BTW: If someone finds this interesting:
Today b4 push starting it, I got inside the car, and before putting the keys into the ignition, I was hearing a continuos "clicking sound" as if the door locking was trying to lock/unlock. With the battery dead, I couldn't use the remote control to lock/unlock the doors, now it all works fine and the noise is gone.
Can someone tell me what could cause the noise? I can't really tell where it was coming from, but when I put the keys in the ignition and turn them, it stopped.
Just for curiosity, cause I was figuring if the locking system could be draining my batery when I leave the car.
