Suspecting the passenger side drive shaft and just want some confirmation of this if any mechanics or anyone had the same symptoms
Ok, came off a roundabout the other day and when I came up straight the car went all wollowey like a wheel was about to fall off, I drove to the side of the road and checked wheel bolts and they were fine and also grabbed the drives shafts to check for any obvious signs.
All seemed fine so I drove 2 miles home at 10mph, and there is a rotational sound and still has the feeling the wheel is going to fall off especially if you move the steering wheel like they do in a 40's film.
Only just got a chance to look today, checked wheel bearings they're all fine, wheels on tight, grabbed the drive shafts they seemed fine nothing excessive or different to the past 6 months. Took it a few hundred yards down the road still felt the same.
Now I jacked both sides up and put the car into gear and the whole engine and gearbox is gently rocking at the same point as though its on one massive cam lobe...
I suspect engine mount, but why was it at a certain point each time?
I held the drivers wheel still and the engine is still rocking.
I held the passenger side still and the problem goes away.
Intermediate bearing has always had a bit of play and this is the only thing I can think of, cant be the diff or both sides would do it right?
Switched engine off and took it out of gear and turned the passenger side wheel and at a certain point of rotation the whole engine moves up like its on a cam lobe again, and its as though theres a whole bearing missing in the drive shaft as at a certain point the wheel moves but doesn't turn the gearbox.
So passenger side drive shaft?
