Fuel Pump??

    Hey there folks,

Ok this is my first time using your forum and you will have to put up with a girly explanation of my saxo problem

My car is a 1996 1.6 saxo VTR, its been sitting on a driveway for the last 2 weeks and hasnt been turned over as i have been away. The car refuses to start, it turns over and all other functions seem to be fine, BUT there is no fuel coming thru, we have tried the fuel pump, and altho it works (fuel flows doing this) when hooked to a separate battery, it will not work when using the ignition alone. Ive had a couple of people look at it, both with differing opinions, 1 says it needs a full fuel pump replacement, and the other thinks it may be a relay switch problem, all fuses and ECUs have been checked and all are fine.

We have ruled out the immobiliser as the main problem, but unhooked the battery and tried a reset just in case, still no joy. Any advice gratefully received before i fork out for a replacement pump only to find its a wiring issue.

engine may be flooded with fuel, put your fut on accelarator and foot on clutch

Take fuel rail off to confirm no fuels getting through. Most likely relays knackered.

Thanks for the reply, but we cant get fuel to pump into the engine.. so flooding is unlikely, we only had running fuel when testing the pump and the fuel line was disconnected to check fuel flow at the time.. the fuel pump wont engage with the ignition.

No its not priming, we have changed the pump and the relays today and still no start up. Not priming at all with turn of key
